Join us for a training session that teaches election protection workers how to safeguard our community at the polls. This is a paid opportunity — workers earn $20 per hour.

Common Cause North Carolina

  • 2026 “Ready to Vote” Events and Actions: Help your community understand the latest election rules, make important connections between local concerns and 2026 races on the ballot, and protect the vote this fall by co-hosting a Ready to Vote event — or by signing up for other election protection opportunities at ccnc.me/ready.
  • Our 2026 “Ready to Vote” Community Education and Training Tour is traveling across North Carolina as we provide voters like you with the latest nonpartisan information you’ll need to navigate voting rules, what’s on the ballot, and the power of election protection.   • 2026 “Ready to Vote” Resources: Help your community get “ready to vote.” Provided by Common Cause NC, order FREE 2026 Ready to Vote resources are available in quantities to distribute to North Carolina voters where you live at ccnc.me/resources.

  • Elections don’t end on Election Day. Finish the job you’ve started by being a Canvass Monitor, making sure all votes cast are counted before and after Election Day. Trainings coming up soon include:

Democracy NC

  • NC Election Protection Hotline (Democracy NC & SCSJ): Trained Hotline volunteers answer calls from voters across the state, documenting problems and guiding callers through the voting process. Open to lawyers, law students, and paralegals. Learn more and sign up here. Training October 1; Shifts begin October 12 through Election Day and Canvass as needed.
  • Vote Protector Program: The Vote Protector program trains volunteers to monitor polling sites, assist voters with common questions or issues, and escalate more serious issues to our Election Protection Hotline. An online training will be available in September, along with in-person trainings in certain counties around the state. Click here to learn more and sign up.
  • Printed Voter Guides: Statewide guides will be available shortly after Labor Day.
  • Digital Voter Guide available now; put your home address in for nonpartisan information on candidates for the elections you can vote in; create your personalized sample ballot you can take to the polls, ncvoter.org/guide.

Forward Justice

  • 2026 Voter Intimidation Hotline: We provide training for legal volunteers interested in answering voter intimidation calls from voters across the state, whose role will be to document problems, guide callers through the voting process, and advocate on behalf of voters experiencing intimidation at or near the polls. Open to attorneys, law students, and paralegals. Two-part training required. Interested attorneys can fill out this form for more information. Training dates are listed below: 

Round 1:

  • Sat. September 12 @ 10:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. – Part I (in partnership with Black Legal Network)
  • Tues. September 22 @ 6:30 p.m.- 7:30 p.m. – Part II

    Round 2:

    • Wed. September 28 @ 6:30 p.m.- 7:30 p.m.  Part I (in partnership with Black Legal Network)
    • Sat. October 3  @ 10:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m.  – Part II
    • Voter Intimidation Yard Signs/Resources for voters: Available now. Please email Brittany Cheatham or Isaiah Withers for coordination.
    • Voter Intimidation training materials for orgs will be available shortly after Labor Day.

        NC Asian Americans Together

        • Vote By Mail Workshops in Mecklenburg and Wake Counties to help absentee voters learn the ins and outs of vote by mail. Voters will have access to computers to request their mail-in ballot, and a notary will be on site if they need a ballot witnessed. Sign up at http://ncaat.org/vbminterest
        • Join NCAAT as a Vote Protector at 7 early voting polling sites beginning October 15 through October 31 and on Election Day, November 3. Sign up for shifts at http://ncaat.org/electionprotection. Election Protection volunteers play a critical role in ensuring every eligible voter can cast their ballot safely and confidently. Opportunities include serving as a nonpartisan poll monitor (vote protector) and staffing our multilingual voter assistance hotline to help voters navigate questions or barriers they may encounter while voting. No prior experience is required. Training and resources will be provided. Thank you for helping us build a more accessible, inclusive, and equitable democracy.
        • NCAAT Election Protection Hotline in 6 AAPI languages. Trained hotline volunteers will help voters in 6 AAPI languages, including Mandarin, Hindi, Urdu, Telugu, Korean and Vietnamese. Available from the start of September to help with absentee ballot questions through the early voting period, as well as on Election Day. 1-833-VOTE-NCAAT (1-833-868-3622)

        SCSJ

        • NC Election Protection Hotline (Democracy NC & SCSJ): Trained Hotline volunteers answer calls from voters across the state, documenting problems and guiding callers through the voting process.         • Legal Canvass Monitor Program: We provide training and support for lawyers, law students, and paralegals to monitor county board of elections meetings where ballots are reviewed and counted. Past monitors have been able to save hundreds of ballots from being wrongfully discarded. Learn more and sign up here.

        You Can Vote

        • Virtual training on Voter Education, Registration and Mobilization Best Practices, What’s on The Ballot 2026: Issues, Offices and Constitutional Amendments, and Know Your Voting Rights. Get Trained – You Can Vote 
        • Request an educator to give an in-person training (English or Spanish) at a nonpartisan community event, you can request one at Request a voting rights educator – You Can Vote 
        • Free resources – become a Voting Rights Champion and get access to free digital and print resources in English and Spanish + guidance to help you share trusted nonpartisan information to engage voters in your communities and networks.  
        • Volunteer to educate and empower voters in your community to make their voices heard and votes count!

        The Voter Safety + Protection website is a  North Carolina Black Alliance project. Launched in 2020, the site provides credible election information and resources for North Carolina voters.
